About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Officer – Bacteriology (TGO2) to support 24‑hour diagnostic services. This position involves applying advanced technical judgement across a range of complex testing methods within the Bacteriology Department. You will lead minor technical initiatives, ensure timely, high‑quality outputs, supervise and mentor staff, provide technical advice to clients, and contribute to continuous improvement.

About You

You are an experienced technical professional with advanced bacteriology expertise and a commitment to laboratory quality and client service. You can manage complex workloads, supervise others, maintain precision under pressure, and have strong knowledge of quality systems, WHS, diagnostic practices, legislative and accreditation requirements.

Key Requirements

- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a recognised laboratory qualification, or an approved equivalent.

- Extensive experience across key technical domains in bacteriology, with proven problem‑solving and troubleshooting capabilities.

- Experience supervising and training staff, preparing technical reports, and delivering work to high standards with accuracy and confidentiality.

- Strong knowledge of quality systems, WHS, diagnostic practices, and relevant legislative and accreditation requirements.
