About the LECC
The Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC) is an independent investigative commission established to provide oversight of the NSW Police Force and NSW Crime Commission. The LECC independently monitors and reviews the investigation of complaints by the NSWPF and the NSWCC about the conduct of their officers, recognises the primary responsibility of those agencies to investigate and prevent officer misconduct and corruption, and provides oversight of those functions. The LECC also undertakes independent, real-time monitoring of critical incident investigations undertaken by the NSWPF and can make reports on the conduct of critical incident investigations by the NSWPF. By working collaboratively with the NSW Police Force and the NSW Crime Commission, the LECC strengthens the integrity of law enforcement in NSW and promotes the prevention and elimination of officer misconduct.
About the Role
The Data Analyst role delivers data related services to uplift the business intelligence capabilities of the Commission’s operational teams and corporate services. The Data Analyst will ensure that data sources provide accurate and reliable information by using analytical, statistical and programming skills. The Data Analyst will have a passion for data visualisation and will oversee projects from end‑to‑end including mapping business processes, conducting requirements analysis with stakeholders, developing models, interpreting data into actionable metrics, and providing documentation.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and reliable data sources through analytical, statistical and programming expertise.
- Develop data visualisations and dashboards using Power BI and other Microsoft tools.
- Design and maintain data pipelines using Power BI, Azure services, SQL and SharePoint.
- Monitor data quality and provide actionable metrics to business units.
- Document data models, business processes and project deliverables.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in IT and relevant industry certifications or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated awareness of operational and analytical reporting using Power BI as a core tool – data model preparation, visuals and reports creation, dashboard and scorecard implementation, automated reports scheduling and publication.
- Familiarity with Azure services, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Integration and Data Tools, SQL Server, SharePoint.
- Understanding of data sources and ability to extract data using SQL, DAX, Power M or any applicable formula and query languages.
- Ability to prioritise and work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a problem‑solving mindset.
Eligibility
- To be eligible to apply for this ongoing role you must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- The LECC Act 2016 (Sec 21) prohibits the appointment of current and former sworn members of the NSW Police Force or NSW Crime Commission to this role, however current and former civilian (unsworn) employees of the NSW Police Force and NSW Crime Commission may apply.
Security Vetting
The successful applicant will undergo a stringent security vetting process to establish reliability, trustworthiness, integrity and suitability of employment. In addition, LECC officers are also required to obtain a Commonwealth security clearance, with the Data Analyst requiring clearance at an NV1 classification.
