An opportunity exists for an experienced Cook to join our team at Palms Aged Care Service in Ingham Qld. You will be responsible for preparing meals, undertaking basic cooking duties and ensuring the kitchen and equipment is maintained in a safe, clean and tidy manner. You will join a supportive team who is passionate about providing high quality, nutritious meals for our residents with special dietary needs.

In this role you will

- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes with precision and creativity;
- Clean and maintain kitchen area, equipment, appliances, utensils and fixtures in accordance with standard cleaning and infection control processes;
- Undertake basic record keeping of key kitchen and stock data;
- Liaise with the supervisor and/or suppliers in relation to stock ordering and control;
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations;
- Contribute ideas for menu development and special events.

What you can bring to the team

You will have comprehensive understanding of legislation relevant to the industry plus knowledge and application of safe food hygiene practices. Your highly developed prioritisation and time management skills are just some of your strengths. You will enjoy working with the elderly and have empathy to their needs. If you are also enthusiastic, reliable and work well in a team environment, this is an excellent opportunity for you.

To be suited to this position, you will have:

- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial food preparation, cooking processes, food hygiene control and cleaning chemicals used in a kitchen;
- Minimum one-year experience as a commercial cook, working in a hygiene-controlled environment;
- Experience working within the Aged Care industry will be highly regarded;
- Solid understanding of food safety legislation, texture modification and special needs diets.
