Owen Shay Electrical (OSE), in partnership with CVGT Employment, is seeking a motivated Apprentice Electrician to join their dynamic team. Based in Central Victoria and operating since 2014, OSE has built a strong reputation across a wide range of electrical services, including high-voltage installations, underground cabling, main switchboard setups, large-scale electrical projects, and specialised work in poultry and food processing facilities.

Working under the guidance of qualified electricians, the successful candidate will gain practical experience across a variety of electrical tasks while developing into a skilled, safety-conscious professional. Key responsibilities

- This apprenticeship offers a hands-on opportunity to work within the Hazeldene’s poultry processing facility, supporting the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems and equipment.

- The Apprentice Electrician will assist in maintaining production uptime, supporting automation systems, and contributing to continuous improvement in a fast-paced food manufacturing setting.

- Perform electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations on production machinery and infrastructure.

- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in electrical systems

- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.

- Assist with upgrades and modifications to electrical systems and equipment.

- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, food safety regulations, and company policies.

- Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and issues identified.

- Collaborate with other trades and departments to support production and maintenance goals.

- Respond to breakdowns promptly and effectively to minimise disruption to operations.

- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute ideas for process optimisation.

- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, or on-call as required.

- Strong interest in electrical systems and industrial automation.

- Good problem-solving and communication skills.

- Ability to work in a team and follow instructions.

- Physically fit and able to work in a factory environment (including hot/cold areas).

- Commitment to safety and continuous learning.

- Candidates cannot have birds or pigs at home (biosecurity).

- Willingness to obtain required certifications (Working with Children Check, National Criminal History Check)

Shifts available: Day (06:30-15:00), Afternoon (15:00-23:00), and Night (23:00-07:00).
