About the OPPORTUNITY
We currently have a rewarding opportunity to join us as a Quality Control Inspector (Welding) where you will be part of Australia's premier defence project Supporting the Hunter Class Frigate Program using your exceptional quality control experience, you will ensure Quality Standards are maintained to the satisfaction of internal and external stakeholders. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all work performed has been completed to the applicable workmanship standards, and is compliant with the relevant specifications.

This role will be based out of our Osborne Shipyard office. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.

**Key responsibilities will include**:

- Work as part of a team delivering a broad range of planned quality activities
- Ensure Quality Standards are maintained to the satisfaction of internal and external Customers
- Inspection and approval of product
- Gathering objective quality evidence of build in accordance with design
- Provision of informal training to Supervisors and Team leads on the requirements of product standards
- Support completion of NCR Root cause analysis and the implementation of any required corrective and preventive action
- Undertake review and reporting on the efficiency and effectiveness of quality practices across the business
- Provide guidance, advice and support on all quality related matters
- Support the understanding and awareness of quality tools and techniques across the business area, providing appropriate communications, training and support
- Support Quality Planning activities in the business area, including assurance activities
- Provide competent advice on appropriate quality standards and quality conditions in contracts and proposals

About YOU

**You'll have**:

- Certified Welding Inspector (e.g., AWI, IWI-B or CSWIP 3.1 is highly desirable)
- Excellent attention to detail with organisation skills, together with a high degree of motivation, initiative and enthusiasm
- Well-developed self-management skills and demonstrated ability to work under your own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost
- Be able to work as part of a team or independently with little supervision and guidance and using your own experience, judgement and initiative
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, including the ability to communicate with staff at all levels and from a range of disciplines
- A capability to establish, develop and maintain strong relationships with Customers and Stakeholders
- Ability to interpret specifications and engineering drawings - preferred
- Ability to interact effectively with peers within and outside the immediate team to implement business improvement requirements - preferred
- Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word and Excel - preferred
- Sound understanding of Quality practices and continuous improvement - desirable
- Familiarity of ISO 9001, Defence and Civil Technical Regulatory - desirable
