**Role**:
Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.

Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.

Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.

Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals. Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.

As part of the whole school wellbeing team, the Leading Teacher - Wellbeing and Inclusion will play a key role in improving student mental health, providing inclusive learning environments and ensuring inclusive education for all students. Working closely with PLC leaders, classroom teachers, classroom support adies and the Principal Class, they will develop appropriate curriculum to support positive mental health, develop staff capacity to deliver such mental health programs such as Respectful Relationships and support the implementation of the Disability Inclusion reform.

Some of these key roles will be:

- Develop and implement policies and procedures to support the Disability Inclusion reform
- Establish systems and procedures to capture evidence for Disability and Inclusion Profiles (DIPs)
- Support teams and individuals to deliver appropriate adjustments for student inclusion and access to learning
- Model SWPBS strategies for inclusive and engaging classrooms
- Provide professional learning for staff relevant to Wellbeing and Inclusion
- Liaise with relevant Allied Health professionals to support IEPs, staff development and Tier 2 supports as reqiuired
- Support classroom staff in the implementation of classroom engagement and inclusion strategies
- Liaise closely with other Learning Specialists and Leading Teachers
- Support the implentation of the AIP
- Any other duties as directed by the Principal Class
