**The Role**
- Cost Estimation_
The EL 1 Assistant Director - Cost Estimation would be leading a team of cost estimators to work with variety of projects to develop life cycle cost estimates.
Responsibilities would include:
- Leading a team to build cost estimates to support capability gate review and investment committee decisions;
- Supervising staff to work through tender submissions to extract the relevant cost data;
- Liaising with project managers, schedulers and risk managers to understand the cost implications of schedule, uncertainty and risk;
- Presenting cost models to SES and senior leaders including capability gate review, investment committee and external stakeholder review; and
- Liaise with financial and portfolio stakeholders to convey high-level summaries of estimates.
- Cost Assurance_
The EL 1 Assistant Director - Cost Assurance would be providing leadership for a team providing technical cost advice and support to cost estimators and project teams developing cost estimates.
Responsibilities would include:
- Overseeing the review of cost estimates to ensure they comply with the Defence Cost Estimation Standards;
- Managing the provision of advice and recommendations to improve the quality of cost estimates; and
- Lead and be responsible for the preparation of briefs for senior decision makers.
**About our Team**
The Capability Costing Branch works in partnership with the Defence community to drive better practice and transform capability costing. The Branch connects and supports a professional costing community by developing policy and technical solutions, providing strategic and technical costing advice, and building a sustainable costing workforce.
The capability-costing branch is growing and expanding to support Defence through a period of growth to develop accurate and fit for purpose cost estimates. We are looking for people who can work closely with projects to support the development of project cost estimates.
If you have a background in accounting and finance or a STEM field we would love to have you onboard. We are looking for people with experience in projects, cost assurance, estimation and project finance.
