**The Role**

We are seeking a Paralegal to join our IPTech team, in a full time capacity, in Sydney.

**Qualifications & Experience**
- relevant experience in a similar role
- relevant experience in a top tier or leading international firm preferred;
- a strong client service orientation;
- strong technical, drafting and commercial skills;
- relevant qualifications;
- excellent communication skills;
- a commitment to high work standards and strong attention to detail;
- an ability to demonstrate initiative and proactivity;
- an ability to develop strong relationships with clients and to take responsibility for this relationship;
- an ability to work well in a team environment (including across Australian offices and internationally);
- a willingness to learn; and
- a willingness to develop others through sharing experiences.

**Responsibilities**:

- taking responsibility for anti-counterfeiting programs
- maintaining day to day contact with clients, Customs and investigators, under lawyer supervision
- filing and maintaining Customs notices
- maintaining databases relating to counterfeits and infringements
- undertaking online and market investigations
- briefing external investigators
- preparing regular reports to clients regarding enforcement actions
- obtaining instructions from clients/solicitors
- preparing documents such as demand letters for approval
- following up on demand letters (including by telephone) to obtain timely responses
- preparing briefs to counsel
- assisting with the collation and preparation of evidence, including affidavit evidence
- document management, including preparation and organisation of exhibits
- following up on various stages of process with clients, including diarising and acting on deadlines
- internal and external reporting on a timely basis
- assisting in drafting and maintaining precedents
- organising systems and structures for matter management

Our IP disputes practice covers "crown jewels" litigation as well as anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy actions. We also operate the largest trade mark portfolio practice of any law firm in Australia for many of the world's most famous brand owners. We handle complex trade marks, copyright, patent, design, trade secrets and trade practices disputes and associated advisory work, and also act in a wide range of IP-related transactions.
