About us
The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
A unique opportunity to help establish the departments risk and assurance function. As the Manager, Risk and Assurance you will be responsible for promoting transparent and accountable public administration through managing DGS' risk management and assurance obligations.
Specific priorities include delivering and maturing DGS's governance and risk management framework. The role will lead the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures, oversee the internal audit provider and ensure regulatory compliance. The Manager identifies and evaluates potential risks, raises awareness of and provides guidance to DGS executives on risk management practices, and develops contingency plans. They ensure regular reports are delivered to stakeholders on risk status and provide recommendations for risk reduction.
You will also have the opportunity to lead advice on other relevant issues as needs arise, such as governance support for portfolio entities.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

- Sound knowledge of legislation and standards governing public sector financial administration and accountability and the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of legislation, policy and procedures related to the department of government services.
- Public sector or relevant experience in risk and assurance with a clear understanding of enterprise risk management frameworks, their development and maturation in complex setting.
- Highly developed people management skills, with demonstrated experience managing, leading, and developing a team to consistently perform in a high volume, fast-paced, environment.
- Possess high level of skill in written communication, particularly with respect to presenting audit reports, engaging external auditors where required, preparing correspondence and other written material
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines while working in pressured situations. Is open to new ideas, approaches and viewpoints.
