**About the role**:
The Academic Student Support Officer will assist students with their academic needs ranging from academic skills to academic requirements. The officer will work closely with the Head of Discipline and lecturers to address the students’ academic issues. The student support meetings should be one-on-one and must be recorded in Intervention section in RTOManager system.

The Academic Student Support Officer is responsible for:

- Assessing student’s academic needs and provide learning plans to assist students achieving their study goals.
- Monitoring students-at-risk’s on-going educational progress in consultation with other educators and staff including the handling of student grievances in the initial stage.
- Ensuring students meet the requirements outlined in their study plans by the due dates.
- Referring students to the College relevant advisers such as Placement Advisers, Psychological Advisers if needed.
- Attending Student Support Services meetings and reporting to Academic Student Support Coordinator and other relevant committees such as the Teaching and Learning Committee.
- Participating in the Academic Support Services quality improvement processes including responding to student and staff evaluation and feedback.
- Complying with TEQSA requirements as well as Stott's College’s policies and procedures.

**About you**:
The Academic Support Officer is expected to develop a good level of rapport with staff and students who are involved with the Health and Community Service department. Other desirable qualities:

- Masters in the relevant discipline, or equivalent.
- Relevant tertiary teaching experience or academic support with demonstrable teaching achievements and results.
- The ability to improve teaching methods and the ability and willingness to use technology or other innovative strategies for teaching and learning and for engaging students.
- Recent work practice experience and an understanding of theory and practice in the relevant discipline.
- Demonstrable teamwork skills and the ability and willingness to contribute to professional collaborations and academic administration.
