Parks and Gardens Apprentice

Are you interested in working outdoors within a government establishment?
Stonnington City Council is home to over 40 stunning parks, gardens, and reserves. Throughout the three-year apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of gardens and carry out maintenance for the local community.
About the role
The apprentice will be required to undertake maintenance in horticulture such as, but not limited to:

- Using tools such as mowers, hand tools and power tools.
- Gardening; Planting, weeding, mulching, watering and pruning.
- Litter removal and weed spraying
- Irrigation repairs
- Community Engagement: Engage with local residents for feedback and gardening advice.
- Participate in relevant training and skill development as required.
- Co-operate and collaborate with other members of the Parks and Gardens team as required
- Undertake the required schooling/TAFE to a satisfactory level to complete the three year apprenticeship.
- Record daily activities in a work journal.
- Follow Occupational Health and Safety policies in the workplace.

About you
- Physically fit and self-motivated
- Passion for working outdoors
- Can-do attitude
- Consistently reliable and punctual
- Machinery operating skills are an added advantage, though not required
- Driver's licence preferable
