**About the team**:
The Chief Information Officer Division is an exciting, fast-paced team that drives the digital agenda for the Department of Industry, Science and Resources. The group leads the department’s digital agenda by partnering with our stakeholders to co-design digital experiences, making it simpler to innovate, collaborate and communicate, and continue to evolve digital services using leading edge technology and smart design.

The Cyber Security team is responsible for oversight and management of cyber security within the department. The team is made up of 4 functions including: Governance, Risk and Compliance, Security Operations Centre, Project Advisory and Assurance and Cyber Engagement.

The Cyber Project Assurance Specialist is responsible for supporting assurance for the Essential Eight mitigation strategies, assisting internal investigations and Cyber change management review.

As a Cyber Project Assurance Specialist your primary responsibility will be to work closely relevant teams in governance of Essential Eight obligations for the department, in addition to assisting the team lead in decisions and recommendations for projects to improve and implement security controls, implement designs and troubleshoot issues.

This position is responsible for supporting the team lead in change management processes when it comes to cyber security requirements and implications and working closely with the departments change ream in review, advice and approval of change requests.

We are looking for an enthusiastic member to join the team who posses the attitude and ability to learn new skills and take on broader deliverables within the team including penetration testing.

**What you will do**:
At the APS 5 level a Cyber Project Assurance Specialist is responsible for:

- Understanding the Essential Eight strategies
- Supporting the IT Security Advisor
- Providing consistent cyber security guidance department wide
- Overseeing Essential 8 assurance auditing and governance
- Offering professional advice, contributing technical expertise to meet cyber requirements, making independent decisions, conducting research, and maintaining stakeholder relationships

Adhering to the APS 6 level Work Level Standards, the Cyber Project Assurance Specialist:

- oversees Essential 8 assurance auditing and governance, conducts weekly meetings for ongoing maintenance,
- collaborates closely with the Team Lead to ensure consistent cyber security guidance department wide.
- They provide recommendations for security control improvement, evaluate proposed changes impact on security posture, and make decisions using expertise and knowledge within the defined parameters.

This role involves research and analysis to address complex issues, engage in longer term planning, and manage relationships with stakeholders to achieve objectives while anticipating and meeting their needs.

Cyber Project Assurance Specialist duties may include but are not limited to:

- Administer Essential Eight Assurance auditing and governance, through quarterly review of new updates, development of work packages for affected technical teams, review of outcomes and reporting.
- Coordinating and maintaining the Essential Eight Assurance auditing by conducting weekly meetings, analysis and reporting of ongoing level maintenance.
- Work closely with the team lead in supporting the IT Security Advisor to ensure consistent advice and guidance is provided across the department for cyber security related areas of work.
- Provide guidance and recommendations to projects to improve and implement security controls, implement designs and troubleshoot issues.
- Assist with requesting, reviewing, approving, and tracking security-related changes.
- Evaluate the potential impact of proposed changes on the department’s security posture, including risks and benefits
