**About the Team**

The RDA Armour Shop forms part of our greater Operations team and is overseen by our Area Manager Armour Shop. We have four Supervisors who cover specific areas - Adhesive Bonding, Cutting, Press and Waterjet. The Press Operator role will report directly to our Press Supervisor and work alongside other Operators in the various process areas. The Armour Shop are currently a team of 5 but will expand to a team of 10 by the end of 2023.

**About the Role**

Rheinmetall Defence Australia have an in-house Armour Shop which is responsible for the production of various protection elements. This includes materials used for the Land 400 Phase 2 Boxer assembly process, along with future program assembly processes.

The Press Operator will work within the Armour Shop assisting with the preparation of components, materials and sub-assemblies of composite armour panel modules.

As a Press Operator**,** you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

- Unboxing and inspection of components prior to processing;
- Setting up, monitoring and maintaining of automated Armour Press and cleaning equipment;
- Cutting, layup and curing/pressing of composite materials;
- Completing and certifying of Armour press and cleaning process documentation;
- Assisting the Quality Assurance team with process recording and inspection;
- Recording material and process records in the ERP system;
- Material handling using an overhead crane and pallet handling equipment; and
- Assisting the waterjet and cutting table operators with material processing when required.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
Required:

- Ability to work unsupervised with an attention to detail;
- Visual acuity to quickly sort components and inspect for defects; and
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).

Desirable:

- Previous experience working in a production or assembly environment;
- Experience operating a hydraulic press or plasma oven (desirable);
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a production environment;
- Ability to follow instructions and work autonomously;
- The willingness to be trained on press equipment and cross-trained on other Armour Shop equipment;
- Ability to quickly sort components and inspect for defects; and
- A positive can do approach to task and challenges.
