**About the role**

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Chief Remote Pilot (Drone Operations) to work as part of the close-knit team in NPWS’ Flight Unit at Bankstown. The position will develop the Remote Pilot Aircraft Systems (RPAS) strategy and facilitate, influence, and drive strategic, commercial and customer outcomes. The role will lead and manage all Remote Pilot operational and training matters, ensuring the safety of RPAS operations to support the state-wide park and incident management.

**About you**
- Prior experience in a similar role and operating environment.
- Proven experience in developing and executing an RPAS strategy.
- 5+ years experience scheduling or coordinating complex field operations within commercial or public RPAS operations or other industries, ideally operating EVLOS or other complex operations
- Prior experience in the use of RPAS software to manage data retrieved from RPA flights and data visualisation.
- A willingness to operate in high risk and high-pressure environments (including fire operations) and in remote parts of NSW
- Proven communication skills and the ability to successfully navigate multiple stakeholders with ease and you’re also adept at leadership with demonstrated experience in leading a team of RPAS pilots.
- Experience with monitoring including control interfaces such as RPA ground control stations, or experience in the design, research, or approval of such solutions.
- Proven experience in budget management and operational planning.
- Certificate IV in training and assessment training (current/or undertaking) highly desirable
- Image sensing, remote sensing experience highly desirable
- SORA training / experience highly desirable

**Essential requirements**:

- Qualify as a Chief remote pilot through CASA assessment, including holding a valid RePL 25kg multi rotor, heavy 25kg Powered lift endorsement issued by CASA, and an aviation radio qualification AROC or the ability to obtain.
- Eligibility to be approved as a Chief RPAS Controller for EES RPAS operations by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).
- Comprehensive knowledge of the CASA Regulations and Orders that affect EES’s ReOC Air Operator Certificate and of the responsibilities of a Chief Remote Pilot and the ability to perform these responsibilities.
- A current NSW C-class driver’s licence or equivalent.
- Ability and willingness to travel and undertake RPAS operations in remote areas of NSW.
