**About the Role**
Western Health has over 30 HMO2 (PGY2) surgical positions suitable for those applicants who are currently undertaking their Internship and will have obtained their General Registration with AHPRA in January 2024.
Western Health offers a supported environment where Senior Medical Staff make an effort to know you personally and our HMO education program comprises fortnightly education sessions, incorporating simulation workshops and case based education sessions. We have an energetic group of JMS Medical Education Officers who coordinate educational opportunities for prevocational trainees, interns and medical students (Prevocational Education Committee in Surgery (PECS)).
Western Health offers a wide variety of rotations within our HMO2 Surgical stream, these include:
- Anaesthetics
- Emergency Medicine
- General Surgery
- Intensive Care Medicine
- Orthopaedic Surgery
- Plastic Surgery
- Plastics / ENT / Ophthalmology
- Upper GI / Colorectal / Breast and Endocrine surgery
- Urology
- Vascular Surgery
- Surgical Nights/Relieving (in both General and Specialty Surgery)
Please note: all HMOs will be assigned an emergency rotation during the year, along with a night duty / relieving term during the year. Every effort will be made to provide rotations of your choice - taking into consideration such things as current training requirements, previous experience and demands of particular rotations. However this is not a guarantee as this is dependent on the group of successful applicants and the final rotation selection.
