Purpose of the role

This voluntary role provides support, group work and case management for participants in the Bridgehaven program. The Student Placement position is specifically a fixed short-term role of up to 38 hours per week to complete the education and training requirements for no longer than a period of 6 months duration to support the tertiary educational requirements of students.

Role Required Tasks
- Protect the safety and wellbeing of all participants by monitoring and managing the dynamics of participants to provide a safe and positive environment for all.
- Ensure new participants are inducted into the Bridgehaven program, ensuring a positive and engaging first experience with the program.
- Respond to all resident enquiries and escalate to AOD Practitioners as required.
- Actively participates in daily handovers and liaises with other staff as necessary to ensure required participant information is communicated.
- Ensure participant and staff security by responding to critical incidents and security concerns, as per policy and procedure.
- Motivate participants to maintain a neat tidy and safe environment paying particular attention to all common areas.
- Provide “hands on” practical support to participants to enhance living skills.
- Manage participants behaviour in line with the program policies.
- Assist with self-administration of medications for all participants, and scheduling GP & medical appointments as required.
- All reportable incidences appropriately documented and communicated.
- All phone calls answered, responded to appropriately and messages passed on to relevant staff for action.
- Identifies and responds to any likelihood or evidence of significant harm to participants or others; informing the line manager as soon as possible of any actions taken and or required.
- Participates in group facilitation i.e. art, journaling, meditation.
- Transport and support participants with external appointments.
- Organise a range of appropriate enjoyable social activities to ensure participants remain actively engaged.
- Coordinate and facilitate weekly house duties, cleaning and cooking roster.
- Coordinate online weekly shopping for grocery supplies and delivery.
- Facilitate catering and activities for participants and staff events.
- Participates in staff meetings to maintain connection with wider staffing team.
- All administrative and finance tasks are undertaken in an efficient and effective manner, as required and as per policy and procedure.
- Ensure all electronic record
