The Medical Affairs Manager (MAM) is a key member of the country medical team and represents field and customer focused role, enabling medically oriented interaction with internal and external stakeholders
The MAM is responsible for building and maintaining professional relationships with key thought leaders and external stakeholders to expand Medison’s educational, advisory, and research partnership opportunities.
The MAM will work collaboratively within the cross-functional team to provide expert medical support internally and to our vendors as scientific expert in the disease area(s) under their responsibility. Supports the country Medical Director in the creation and execution of the medical stakeholders engagement strategy and medical affairs plan(s), from pre-launch activities across the continuum of the product life cycle, in line with brand strategies and company objectives.
The MAM reports to the Country Medical Director
**Requirements**:
- Advanced tertiary qualification in a scientific discipline (PharmD, MD, PhD is preferred)
- Significant experience in Medical Affairs within Australia/New Zealand, of which a minimum of 3 years experience in a medical scientific liaison (or equivalent) or medical manager role, with experience in new product launches and managing medical-scientific projects end-to-end.
- 10+ years of related pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience working with innovative drugs/companies preferred.
- Experience working in multinational organizations.
- Deep knowledge of the Australian healthcare system, experience in Rare Diseases ideal.
- Strong understanding of the local regulatory requirements, accepted standards and guidelines.
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate scientific and medical information to both internal and a variety of external stakeholders
- Highly collaborative and team spirited
- Fluent in English with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to successfully build and maintain professional and trusting relationships
- Works effectively in highly dynamic and changing environments, displays agility and an incessant scientific curiosity
- Strong business acumen
- Pro-active, with the ability to take initiative and work independently when needed
- Integrity and compliance mindset
- Comfortable taking initiatives and learning from them (both successes and failures)
- Ability to work with senior members of Medison customers, health funds, MOH, etc.
- Excellent IT and digital capability skills to communicate effectively in a digital world
- Mobile, willing to travel across the country as needed and with valid driver’s license
**Responsibilities**:
- Establish, build and maintain collaborative relationships with key external medical experts and thought leaders related to the relevant current and future disease or therapeutic area, and develop a deep understanding of the stakeholder needs.
- Contribute to the generation and communication of complex scientific information, and communicate scientific data related to current and future products under their responsibility to relevant stakeholders (including the delivery of scientific presentations to individuals or groups of health care professionals).
- Ensure timely and high-quality responses to unsolicited questions from HCPs and other stakeholders.
- Monitor the external landscape and identify new and changing trends in therapeutic area. Capture competitive intelligence, and proactively communicate strategic insights to the cross functional team where appropriate..
- Build, maintain and ensure objectives of KOL engagement plans are met in a timely, accurate and compliant manner.
