The Department of Parliamentary Services provides support to all Members of Parliament for the recruitment and selection of their staff. On behalf of Ella George Member for Lara we are now recruiting for a full-time Electorate Officer (Grade 2).

**About the Role**

Electorate Officers play an important role in providing services to the Victorian community. Your work will require a high degree of trust and integrity. Confidentiality is a key requirement when interacting with constituents and visitors to the office or in the community.

Reporting to Ella George, Member for Lara, you will interact daily with constituents, community organisations and other stakeholders. The role is based in the Lara electorate office with the option to work from Parliament House from Monday to Thursday on sitting weeks.

The focus of this role will be on strategic communications and social media including:

- Communications planning and delivery
- Local issues campaigns
- Social media forward plan including:

- Planning
- Post creation including copy and graphic design
- Advertising
- Drafting media releases
- Speechwriting

Other key responsibilities may include:

- Parliamentary duties
- General administration and office management
- Constituent services

**Salary**

Electorate Officer salaries are set out in the Electorate Officers (Victoria) Single Enterprise Agreement 2021.

Grade 2: $80,227,914 per annum plus 10.5% employer superannuation.

The role of an Electorate Officer requires you to demonstrate:

- Initiative and organisational ability, particularly working autonomously to determine priorities and perform a broad range of office support duties, often to tight and demanding deadlines.
- Sound written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to undertake research and prepare written materials including reports, submissions, and correspondence.
- Excellent computer skills with experience in MS suite of software and use and maintenance of online communications.
- Commitment and ability to provide the highest level of client service in a challenging environment, providing sound advice and maintaining the strictest confidence on all issues.
- Strong knowledge of, and ability to provide advice and guidance on, government and parliamentary processes.
- Strong knowledge of traditional and social media landscape with ability to maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets; and provide advice in a rapidly changing external policy and political environment.
- Ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders from government and peak organisations to local community organisations and constituents.
- Ability to evaluate work procedures, practices, and systems and to implement change.
- Sound coaching and mentoring skills with ability to support other staff in a team environment, provide direction where required and respect the needs of others.
- Behaviours consistent with Electorate Officer values and Code of Conduct, including the ability to display high levels of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, and respect in relationships with others and decision making.
