**About our opportunity**

This position will have you maintaining stockpiles, segregating materials, managing incoming materials, loading trucks with outgoing materials of stockpile sites and carting material for our gravel roads teams.

Your responsibilities will include competently operating a range of medium plant items (predominantly operating a front end loader with a bucket capacity over 2.25 cubic metres, backhoes and excavators) as required as well as undertaking basic labouring duties installing and maintaining environmental controls and site infrastructure. You will be required to correctly use and maintain any plant and equipment provided, carry out daily checks of the plant prior to commencing operation and report all defects appropriately while supporting the wider Stockpile Sites and Recycling team to undertake stockpile and environmental maintenance activities as required.

This role requires the participation in council's "After Hours On-Call and Programmed Overtime Roster" service.

**About you**

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated experience and skills in respect to the operation of a range of medium plant items appropriate to the materials recycling team - particularly experience operating front end loaders, excavators and backhoes. You will also have a basic understanding of environmental and risk controls, sound experience working on a controlled site with multiple items of plant and machinery, sound experience undertaking operational tasks in a safe manner and adequate numeracy as well as written and verbal communication skills to sufficiently undertake administrative duties necessary for the role.

Additional to the above mentioned skills and experience, you will also hold a current HR class drivers license (a higher class truck license is desirable but not essential), a Construction Induction Card and Certification in the operation in the listed items of plant:

- Front End Loader (LL)
- Backhoe/Loader (LB) _or_ Excavator (LE) - _having both would be considered desirable_
