**Why Your Role Matters**:
As the Research Support Manager, you will play a key role within the UNSW faculty of Medicine and Health, leading a team of professional staff members. The research support team engage broadly and deeply with Academic staff and students in the Faculty as well as external stakeholders across and external to the University to ensure that the Faculty delivers on core strategic and operational research goals.

You will work closely with the Senior Vice Dean (Research) and the Faculty Executive Director to develop and implement strategies that supports the faculty’s research endeavours and achieve the ambitions in the Health 25 Strategy. Key areas of focus include funding development, research impact and capability and higher degree research student support from admission through to thesis submission.

This role reports to the Faculty Executive Director and has a dotted reporting line to the Senior Vice Dean Research. This role has 8 direct reports including 4 x Research Development Managers, 1 x Research Officer Team Leader, 1x HDR Manager, and 2x Research Support Assistants.

**Who You Are**:

- Relevant tertiary qualification with substantial relevant funding development, research administration or other support experience, or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Extensive experience in successfully leading and managing a large and specialist team with proven significant ability to motivate and create a positive workplace culture in order to achieve quality outcomes.
- Extensive operational management skills including planning, priority setting, and managing a dynamic, flexible administrative environment with variable work flows.
- Proven skills and experience in strategic and resource planning within the higher education, goal setting and project management.
- Excellent consultation, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Outstanding organisational skills with proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
