Reporting to the Director, Development & Communications, the Head of Development is a member of the Development & Communications Department senior leadership team.- This role is formally based in South Melbourne. We support our staff to work flexibly, both in location and hours, based on the premise that work will remain the focus of any arrangement. How and where you work is discussed with each staff member based on individual circumstances, role requirements and accountability for delivery of high-quality work.- The Head of Development is responsible for securing significant new funding partnerships to drive long-term sustainable funding for the Foundation to enable us to achieve our vision and purpose.- The role will develop and implement a business development and relationship fundraising strategy to acquire significant new funding partnerships for the Foundation focusing on corporate partners, trusts and foundations, major donors, bequests, and government tenders.**Major job responsibilities**
- Lead the development and implementation of the Foundation’s income development and partnership growth strategy to acquire new strategic, values-driven funding partnerships in the corporate and philanthropic sectors.
- Work collaboratively across the organisation to embed the income development strategy and to maximise income development and performance by leveraging extended networks and influence.
- Build a diverse portfolio of funding opportunities to acquire new partnerships for the Foundation including financial and in-kind partnerships with philanthropic, corporate and government partners.
- Manage the prospect to partner lifecycle, ensuring that market potential is maximised, that relationships are continually progressed through the pipeline, and that high quality pitches/proposals/tenders deliver significant income growth and high yield/return on investment.
- Develop and manage an effective partner/donor/funder stewardship program for philanthropic, corporate and government partners aligned to the donor lifecycle to identify, develop, and nurture relationships to maximise funds generated for the Foundation on a long-term basis.
- Develop engaging and inspiring cases for support, pitches, and presentations, and undertake systematic industry research to identify alignment opportunities, prepare research briefs, and establish new business opportunities.
- Budget setting, financial management and forecasting of the Partnerships area and ongoing monitoring of performance to ensure KPIs are met or exceeded.
- Create a high-performing team culture and lead the Development team including coaching and development to successfully achieve Team, Department and Organisational KPIs and Strategic Plan.
- Represent the Director, Development & Communications and CEO at internal and external forums as required.
- Contribute positively to the Foundation’s culture of We are stronger together through developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with colleagues.
- Other tasks as directed by the Director, Development & Communications, CEO and Executive Team, and occasionally work out of hours and travel interstate for events and campaigns, as required.

**Knowledge, experience & requirements**
- Significant experience in developing and implementing major new business relationships in corporate partnerships, philanthropy, or sales in a complex operating environment.
- Demonstrable track record of fundraising and/or business development success - meeting challenging targets, growing income, and cultivating long-term sustainable relationships.
