Our community involvement includes a range of activities that care for people and work for justice such as:

- Doorways Community Support. Dandenong is a face to face site, offering financial assistance, case management and material aid to those experiencing hardship in our community.
- Building Bridges, a ten-week day recovery programme for those whose alcohol and other drug use is causing problems for them or those they love. Program hours are designed to work around school hours for those who have caring responsibilities for children.
- ePlus Humanitarian, an employment service for refugees and for those seeking asylum, who have working rights in Australia.
- Coach Community Mentoring, a community strengthening program that aims to strengthen families and build resilience through mentoring.
- Thrift Shop where a team of volunteers serve the community by providing affordable goods, which helps us care for creation through recycling and helps to fund our work in the community.
- We are also working with the State Social Youth team to connect with Sudanese young people who are experiencing community disconnection leading to self-harming behaviours.

About the role

We are currently seeking a values-driven Youth and Children’s Ministries Coordinator. This position is instrumental in creating and strengthening The Salvation Army’s engagement with young people through the Dandenong Corps.

You will successfully
- Create youth-centred programs and connections that respond to the needs of the local community
- Develop and train volunteers and leaders
- Provide oversight to the Children’s ministries of the corps
- Undertake pastoral care and discipleship as guided by the Corps Officer(s)
- Support the Corps Officer team in developing the Local Mission Plan
- Coordinate children and youth Sunday programming

This is a permanent full time position, based at our Dandenong Corps.

If relocating from interstate The Salvation Army may be able to offer affordable short term rental accommodation (depending on availability).

You will have
- Relevant qualification in youth and/or children’s ministry.
- Relevant experience in implementing, facilitating and evaluating youth and/or children’s programs.
- Willingness to actively promote the Vision, Mission and Values of The Salvation Army
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
