Part time experienced Ophthalmic technician required to join the MQ Health Ophthalmology clinic. Flexible with days and a variety of cases.

THE ROLE- Part-time, 3 days, fixed term position (6 months) with possibility of extending- Immediate start in a healthcare organisation based primarily in Macquarie University Hospital Clinics (North Ryde).- Access to the salary packaging benefit with Maxxia to maximise your take home pay.

The Role

As part of the Orthoptic team, you will be responsible for the delivery of care to patients of all ages and sub speciality at the MQ Health Ophthalmology Clinic. This fixed term appointment is required for current coverage and has potential to be extended. The role will involve performing appropriate diagnostic testing to support ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating a range of eye conditions, sterilisation of instruments & other contact areas and assisting with pre
- and post-operative care of patients.

Key accountabilities (not limited to):
- Work as part of the orthoptic team, performing ancillary testing and operation of various automated and non-automated ophthalmic equipment including but not limited to: visual acuity, IOP measurements, OCT scans (Cirrus and Spectralis), visual field assessments, fundus photography and fluorescein & ICG angiograms.- Knowledge of advanced diagnostic imaging tests for ophthalmology and ensuring appropriate tests are performed for the patient’s conditions.-
- Administer eye drops to patients when required- Properly assist physically or visually disabled patients.- Possess general medical knowledge, including basic microbial control, ocular anatomy and physiology, systemic diseases, ocular diseases and ocular emergencies.

To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your CV and a 2 page cover letter.- Minimum requirement Bachelor's Degree of Applied Sciences or equivalent- Experience in performing ophthalmic diagnostic testing and an understanding of orthoptic assessment protocols.- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to build rapport and empathise with patients.- Demonstrated commitment to high quality, patient-centred and evidence-based care.- Ability to prioritise and manage workloads within established routines, methods and procedures.- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide high quality patient care.- Demonstrated current knowledge of research relating to ophthalmology assessments and treatment of ocular disorders.
