Our client is seeking to engage a Paralegal in their team based in Hurstville. This is a permanent role.

**Position Overview**

Provide support to our staff by assisting with general administrative activities and support to the legal team in tasks associated with a volume claims practice, litigation support and legal research.
- Contribute positively to workplace morale and the development of an environment that supports each staff member to achieve their maximum potential.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards customers, suppliers and other staff.
- Perform any other reasonable and lawful duties, which may be required or directed.
- Project a professional image when representing the company.
- Ensure the security and proper use of the company's assets.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Assisting solicitors in the preparation of routine court documents such as Statement of Claims, Applications for Judgment and other associated documentation.
- Assisting solicitors in preparation of documentation for enforcement, Supreme Court and Federal Magistrates Court proceedings.
- Assisting in the processing of registration and license searches across multiple jurisdictions.
- Liaising with Sheriff’s Office and Local and Magistrates Courts.
- General file maintenance including opening, printing, photocopying, scanning, saving correspondence electronically, hard copy filing and closing files.
- Online and in-court filing and conducting legal searches.
- Drafting, amending and formatting of correspondence and court documents including compiling briefs and court books and transcribing dictation.
- Assisting in preparation for litigation, attendances at Court to file documents and related scanning, photocopying and document production.
- Assist with mail and courier functions for the office including collecting, delivering, notating and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail and courier items.
- Undertake reception-based tasks including answering phones and greeting visitors.
- Providing general support to the Administration Assistant and provide backup support as required during periods of absence.
- Other ad hoc duties and tasks as directed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage and balance own time to meet and exceed business needs.
- Personable, professional and approachable with exceptional customer service skills and an ability to multitask and adapt to changes daily.
- Proficient at legal research and using research databases and other resources.
- Basic understanding of the terminology and relevant legislation in the areas of insurance, insolvency, bankruptcy and commercial litigation.
- Attention to detail.
- Proficient use of DebtCol and LEAP collections/legal software (desirable).
- Flexibility and adaptability in the role based on business needs.
- Higher School Certificate
- Currently studying law or experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in MS Office products including Outlook, Sharepoint, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
