The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) is one of the world’s leading performing arts academies, delivering the most comprehensive range of performing arts training in Australia. Our students are able to develop their skills on-stage as an actor, dancer or musician, or behind the scenes in production, design or arts management.

We are currently welcoming expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals interested in undertaking casual academic work within the Music Theatre Department at WAAPA as a 1-1 singing teacher.

This is an opportunity to work with highly motivated students in a collaborative and dynamic teaching environment. The role requires a scaffolded approach to technical skill development, musicality, and song interpretation. Successful applicants will understand the challenges of musical theatre training and use an empathetic and student-centred teaching style. Duties include on-campus, 1-1 singing teaching, marking and moderation under the supervision of the Musical Theatre Singing Coordinator.

**The Music Theatre Department is seeking individuals who have**:
Experience teaching 1-1 and/or group singing classes in the musical theatre discipline at a high-level.

Strong pedagogical knowledge and understanding of the requirements of musical theatre style and repertoire.

Postgraduate qualification in vocal pedagogy OR equivalent professional experience.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a teaching demonstration and interview in early 2023 for immediate start in Semester 1 (Feb 2023). The number of hours taught per week is negotiable and based on the student enrolment.

This casual position attracts a competitive remuneration plus University superannuation contribution.
