Forensicare provides specialist forensic mental health services across 12 of Victoria's 14 prisons with expansion underway to include Western Plains in the Barwon region. Based at Melbourne Assessment Prison (MAP) in Spencer Street, West Melbourne, VIC; MAP provides 175 mental health intake receptions per week, 24/7 crisis intervention, very busy primary and specialist mental health outpatient service and a 16-bed custodial acute assessment unit, we provide initial assessment and treatment to seriously mentally ill prisoners; an after-hours mental health crisis intervention service.

**About the Role**:

- The Registered Mental Health Nurse (RPN3) practises within a custodial setting and is required to asses, plan, implement, evaluate and maintain a high standard of patient care, recognising the needs of the individual within the boundaries set by the profession and the environment.

**Duties**:

- Triage receptions on arrival, on average we have 24 receptions daily.
- On-site mental health assessments, risk assessments.Crisis intervention work
- Discharges, linkages with other stakeholders in the community.
- Outpatients specialist clinics and primary mental health clinic,.
- Working on a 16-bed acute assessment unit, comprehensive mental health care.
- Admissions. working within a recovery focused model.

**About You**:

- Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery
- Hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent and possess current registration with AHPRA
- An awareness of the organisational structure and policies and procedures.
- A thorough knowledge of current psychiatric nursing practices.
- Knowledge of the relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to independently undertake comprehensive health assessments of patients.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate nursing interventions, counselling and therapeutic programs.
- Well developed written and verbal communication skills. - An ability to practise in a complex and diverse environment.
- An ability to participate in ongoing staff education at unit or program management level.

- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent.
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
