The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a General Manager, Clinical Governance to provide a critical role within Justice Health.
**About the Business Unit**
Justice Health is the business unit of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) responsible for health, mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) services in Victoria's prisons and Youth Justice centres. Justice Health sets the standards for the delivery of these services, monitors service delivery, and manages contracts with service providers across public prisons and Youth Justice facilities.
Justice Health works in collaboration with other DJCS areas such as Corrections Victoria and Youth Justice, as well as the Department of Health to fulfil these functions. This collaboration helps to ensure that people in custody are effectively transitioned back to the community from prison.
**About the Role**
The General Manager, Clinical Governance, will be required to lead, empower and build capability in high performing teams. The General Manager, Clinical Governance will be accountable for leadership, coordination and management of the Clinical Governance team responsible for overseeing contracted service provider performance for primary health, forensic mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) services across the public and private prison system in Victoria.
Some of your duties will include:
- Provide direction and management in the oversight and monitoring of health, mental health and AOD programs
- Facilitate, coordinate and evaluate actions undertaken to address any gaps in service provisions identified through quality improvement activities using evidence-based practice and quality improvement principles and techniques to improve patient safety, access and standards of clinical care
- Develop and maintain sound clinical governance and risk management frameworks that foster a culture of accountability, whilst encouraging innovation and problem solving

**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience in health, mental health, and/or AOD systems
- Demonstrated understanding and awareness of the key issues impacting health, mental health, and/or AOD services to vulnerable cohorts
- Demonstrated ability and experience in the monitoring of health service provision.
- Demonstrated ability to provide expert clinical advice within a challenging and complex health environment.
- Knowledge of the Victorian health, mental health and/or AOD systems and the interface with other relevant service systems is highly desired.
**Qualifications**
- A relevant qualification in health or social sciences is essential
- Current registration with APRHA or similar is desirable
- Post graduate management qualifications are desirable.
