**Data Analyst |12 months contract | VIC Govt | Melbourne CBD | Hybrid Flexible**

Our client is a Victorian agency delivering legal advice and resolution services. As part of a multi-year transformation program, we are seeking a Data Analyst for a 12-month contract with the potential for further extension. The role is based in Melbourne, CBD, and has hybrid work arrangements.

The main responsibility of this role is to design, develop, maintain, troubleshoot and enhance the data analytics infrastructure that informs the work of the agency.

This includes:

- Design, development, implementation and maintenance of analytical tools and solutions (E.g. Power BI). This includes a range of administration tasks (E.g. Adding, maintaining and removing user accounts).
- Design, maintain and enhance insights, reports analysis and dashboards that support the needs of the organisation.

**Accountability**
- Undertakes analysis at the direction of unit manager.
- Works with internal and external stakeholders to identify their data and reporting needs and provide analytical support or solution.
- Liaise, negotiates and responds to requests for information from internal and external clients and stakeholders.
- Service the needs for information and analysis, and where possible provide value-add
- Develop new, and enhance existing, data sets to meet the needs of clients, ensuring alignment with the existing data model for analytics, to avoid any duplication or conflicting with existing data sets.
- Develop effective relationships with stakeholders, with the ability to engage and draw out the needs and requirements of the stakeholders and to negotiate win-win outcomes in the delivery of the services.
- Provides independent data quality checks for other staff members in the unit.
- Contribute and enhance documentation for the data analytics solutions and insights reporting.
- Provide additional analytical expertise to the unit as required.
- Provides training to the staff in using analytical tools and solutions.

**Looking for**
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in the relevant discipline area of information systems, statistics and/or mathematics is desirable
- Well-developed knowledge and skills in data analytics
- Extensive demonstrated experience of working in **relational databases**:

- Ability to program in **SQL is essential** and R and Python would be an advantage.
- Well-developed knowledge and skills in understanding, designing and implementing new reports and dashboards that support analytical reporting.
- Well-developed communication skills, written and oral.
- Well-developed knowledge of information systems to support data analysis
