**About the role**

Contributes to the scientific objectives of the Directorate by performing complex molecular biology techniques for the genetic analysis of cancers; participates in the development of new techniques and in applied research.

Undertakes DOE and sample processing using a variety of technologies for the Genetics and Molecular Pathology Directorate, acting as an Oncology DOE and extraction expert.

Participates in duties associated with the reliable operation of the Service and Molecular Oncology Laboratories and other Sections as identified including inventory control, health and safety requirements and quality assurance.

The following objectives for a Technical Officer at the classification level of TGO2 are as follows:

- Perform duties which demand expertise, experience and technical skills to undertake supervisory responsibilities within the team.
- Provide reports and recommendations of technical suitability of equipment, procedures, processes and results.

**Qualifications**
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in an approved and recognised qualification or an equivalent.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
- Working with Children Check
