**Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Officer - Pacific Labour Facility**

**Project Overview**:
The PLF works with DFAT and DEWR to support the administration of the PALM scheme and facilitate opportunities for Australian employers to connect with workers from the Pacific and Timor-Leste. The PLF is managed by Palladium and has been established as a trusted intermediary in supporting Australia-Pacific circular labour mobility.

**Role Overview**:
The Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Officer will support the GEDSI team with the ongoing implementation of the PLF’s GEDSI Strategy. Specifically, the GEDSI Officer, will support the GEDSI Manager and GEDSI Coordinators to deliver capacity support to Pacific-based labour sending units, including to mainstream gender equality and disability inclusion into policies and processes, as well as to support the development of referral pathways in the Pacific for women and children.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
Under the direction of the Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion Coordinator, the GEDSI Officer will:

- Support the GEDSI team to develop and deliver a range of mainstreaming and targeted GEDSI activities outlined in the PLF GEDSI Strategy and Annual Work Plan/s.
- Provide support to GEDSI team to ensure GEDSI is meaningfully mainstreamed into PLF business processes (including M&E, research, recruitment, communications, welfare, assurance etc) and targeted activities are implemented.
- Support the GEDSI team to ensure continuous improvement of GEDSI programming at the country level, by assisting all ten sending country governments in the Pacific and Timor Leste to:

- Increase understanding on appropriate approaches to inclusion in the PALM scheme.
- Document approaches to inclusion, including recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Analyse sending country capacity needs and map appropriate supports and priorities for inclusion at the country level.
- Support the GEDSI team to implement a GEDSI awareness program that:

- promotes improved understanding within PALM scheme stakeholders of how to achieve GEDSI outcomes in the program; andensures PALM scheme stakeholders are aware of the benefits of a diverse PALM workforce.
- Support the GEDSI team’s work to strengthen partnerships with relevant Pacific and Australian-based partners and to coordinate and implement PLF’s efforts in the region, including support with coordination DFAT and DEWR.
- Support the coordination of activities to help raise awareness on important GEDSI topics, such as International Women’s Day, International Day of People with Disabilities etc
- Support the PLF GEDSI Coordinators with developing policy, procedure, partnerships, and practice related to worker, family and social impacts such as a Pacific Community of Care approach, and disability inclusion in the PALM scheme in accordance with the PALM Scheme Disability Inclusion Pathway design.
- Travel locally and internationally as required.
- Assist with the production and timely submission of all QLP team deliverables.
- Other tasks as reasonably requested by the Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion Coordinator.

**Qualifications and Experience**: The GEDSI Officer will possess the following qualifications and experience:

- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Social Sciences, International Development, Community Development or Journalism
- At least 1-3 years professional experience
- A general understanding of concepts in gender equality, disability inclusion, social inclusion, human rights and international development, and the ability to translate theory into practice.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders across multiple cross-cultural contexts
- Strong liaison and coordination skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team
- Strong skills in written communication, report writing or monitoring and evaluation
- Ability to present and facilitate discussion or public speaking
- Past experience facilitating training or conveying key messages to audiences

Due to the evolving nature of our program, it is possible that an Adviser may be expected to undertake duties that fall outside the remit of their original Terms of Reference to ensure the ongoing success of the program**.**

Where this is required, the following will occur:

- The adviser has the skills and experience to fulfill the duties.
- This arrangement will be short term in nature.
