**About the role**:
A subsection of the Victoria Police Cybercrime Squad, the Digital Forensic team specialise in forensic examination of computers, phones and other data storage devices. Digital evidence is a key component of almost every investigation into serious criminal offending and the digital forensics team play a vital role in extracting, interpreting and presenting this evidence.
The Cybercrime Squad Digital Forensic team comprises of FO4 senior digital forensic officers and FO3 digital forensic officers. The majority of the Cybercrime Squad FO4's and all FO3's are based at the Cybercrime Squad digital forensic lab at the Victoria Police Centre, Spencer Street Docklands and the remaining FO4's are based in eight smaller digital forensic labs across the State.
The team provide digital forensic support to frontline police and specialist investigators across Victoria. FO3 digital forensic officers assist with routine computer and phone examinations and FO4 officers undertake complex examination and analysis of digital evidence artifacts, as well as providing expert evidence in court where required.

**Your duties will include**:

- Ensure that current digital forensic best practices are applied to the work performed by the Cybercrime Squad digital forensic team.
- Lead the development of technical and professional standards specific to the unit.
- Ensure that the reports and statements prepared by the Cybercrime Squad digital forensic officers are suitable for briefs of evidence and prosecutions.

**As the successful applicant, you will have**:

- A high level of knowledge and experience in computing technology and digital forensics/digital evidence.
- Proven ability to lead a team of technical specialists in their respective specialisation.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Relevant tertiary studies or relevant industry certifications are required.
- Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills as well as strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience in providing clear and accurate advice to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

**Requirements and relevant information**:

- Working location - Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands - please note that the digital forensic officer role involves analysis of physical evidence items using specialised equipment on site and supervision cannot be undertaken from home.
- You will travel from time to time to the eight smaller digital forensic labs across the State to support and supervise the FO4 digital forensic officers based there.
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head - to achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- The successful applicant will be required to possess a current Victorian Driver's Licence and hold or qualify for an appropriate Victoria Police driving authority within three (3) months.
- Applicants successful through the interview stage may be required to undergo PAl Psychometric testing and a subsequent interview with the police psychologist.
- The successful applicant may be required to attend warrant execution sites or work at different locations to assist in policing operations.
- The successful applicant's usual place of work will be within the Cybercrime Division, Crime Command, however they may be required to work at any other division within Crime Command as required.
- The successful applicant may be required to work rostered hours, shift work and some public holidays and weekends.
- The successful applicant may also be required to be on stand-by recall outside of the ordinary hours of duty.
