Make a significant difference in this key strategic role, contributing to the continued exciting growth of one of Australia's most desirable regions.

The Sunshine Coast is widely acknowledged as one of the most desirable places to live, work and play. Servicing over 350,000 residents, Sunshine Coast Council is pursuing a clear and innovative vision to become Australia’s most sustainable region: healthy, smart, creative.
Covering an area of approximately 2,291 square kilometres, with a workforce of over 1,800 people, the employees’ passion and commitment to the region and their willingness to go above and beyond, coupled with a great place to work, is what sets the Sunshine Coast Council apart in local government. Sunshine Coast Council is developing the region with key infrastructure to ensure a balance of both a healthy environment, liveability and economic prosperity.

This is a key strategic position for Council in terms of planning the future transport network in our region to accommodate the large population growth forecasted to occur over the next 20 years and beyond. The position is required to work with many internal stakeholders and a variety of external stakeholders; including high level liaisons and representation on behalf of the Sunshine Coast Council with State Government agencies, Council of Mayors, peak body groups and industry associations, providing advocacy for significant projects and legislative initiatives.
The Manager Strategic Infrastructure Planning and Policy is responsible for leading and managing the Transport and Infrastructure Planning Branch in the delivery of strategic advice, direction, policy and advocacy aimed at delivering on Sunshine Coast Council’s transport and infrastructure planning responsibilities for its community. The position will further develop Sunshine Coast Council’s reputation as a liveable region, building an integrated transport, stormwater and infrastructure system that supports the community and future growth.
The role will provide integrated delivery and leadership of Branch strategy, business and operational planning, resourcing and reporting, change and human resource management, and delivery of programs, policy and services, aimed at driving service delivery excellence. In addition to leading a continuous improvement agenda for prudent and efficient management of the asset base with a particular focus on performance, availability, reliability and utilisation of complex infrastructure and assets.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to demonstrate outstanding contemporary leadership skills at an executive level, with the ability to build strong, productive and collaborative workplace cultures that encourage employees to be of their best. You will possess experience in developing innovative approaches to the development of strategies, policies, plans and projects. Extensive knowledge of the dynamics of development and transport, the interrelationships between land use and transport planning, and multi modal transport planning and policy development and implementation experience is highly desired.
You will possess relevant Tertiary qualifications for this role as well as experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams, undertaking community consultation and managing external consultancy based contracts in the delivery of successful transport outcomes. You must possess outstanding integrity and professionalism, exceptional communication and collaboration skills and experience in achieving incredible outcomes for an organisation of the size, scope, complexity and diversity as the Sunshine Coast Council.
