The Role
We are looking for a grounds person to join our Somerton Park Village Team, located in Somerton Park, this role offers the opportunity to work in a team and provide grounds and gardening maintenance services in our beautiful village.
What you will do
- Cleaning tasks, including but not limited to cobwebbing, guttering & down pipes, paths.
- Maintaining the SMDS register
- Operating gardening and cleaning equipment including pressure cleaner and other mechanical devices.
- Ensure all communal areas are tidy and well maintained, including outdoor patios, verandas, outdoor furniture, barbeques.
- Maintain and implement scheduled grounds maintenance and presentation of village gardens including pruning plantings, hedging, weeding, propagating, fertilising, and watering.
- May be required from time to time to conduct very minor maintenance eg changing lightbulbs, easing locks and windows etc
- Carry out any additional duties, as directed by the Village Manager which may include cleaning of air conditioning filters throughout the community hall and offices and resident units. Assistance with the garbage bins within the village and other ad hoc cleaning duties, as required.

What we like about you
- An interest in pruning, weeding, hedging, minor paving repairs, tree management, planting, transplanting and propagating plants.
- Fit and be able to operate garden machinery, work from a ladder and do pole extension work for long periods of time.
- Ability to exercise initiative, discretion, and judgement in carrying out assigned duties.
- Ability to listen, understand and adapt communication styles to appropriate audiences and able to work unsupervised and independently.
- Able to prioritise work schedules
- A valid drivers licence
- Enjoy physical, hands-on work, being in the outdoors
- Experienced and self-driven who works well autonomously, under pressure and meets deadlines.
- Reliable and personable ensuring a positive experience to our residents
- Ability to pass a National Police Check
