About the opportunity
The Central Sterilising Department (CSD), which opened in August 2018 and is housed on Level 2 of the Catherine McAuley Centre at Werribee Mercy Hospital, offers a contemporary workspace, views of Werribee and the surrounding area, and a welcoming team of instrument technicians who are eager for you to join the team. In addition to supporting the hospital's present needs, which include six operating rooms and two procedure rooms, the department is ideally positioned to handle any future expansion.- Permanent part-time position; based on a 7-day roster, covering AM, PM and Night Shift.- Primarily responsible for the checking in and out of loans instrument, cleaning, disinfecting, packing, sterilizing and storage of all reusable medical instruments, which may also include flexible endoscopes and doing set up for theatre list.- The applicant will also be responsible for the maintenance of the working environment and associated medical equipment; ensuring standard precautions are followed, whilst strictly implementing the recommended guidelines as stated in AS 5369:2023

To thrive in this role, you will have:
- Certificate IV in Health - Sterilising Practice for Technicians or equivalent is essential-
- Clinical practice and experience in all areas of cleaning, disinfection, sterilisation and processing loan instruments within a hospital CSD is essential- Knowledge & experience in reprocessing flexible endoscopes highly desirable.- Effective and appropriate patterns of communication within a multidisciplinary team; accurate documentation on disinfection and sterilisation of reusable medical instruments.
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
- A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check (on request).- Current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
