- An Award-winning architecture and interior design practice based in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. With 20 years plus experience gained in architectural and heritage restoration projects both locally and in France and Italy. Nathalie studied architecture for nine years, completing a Doctor of Architecture in Florence at Universita degli Studi di Firenze followed by post-graduate studies in heritage architecture at the specialist École de Chaillot in Paris. In Paris, she was a heritage architect responsible for the completion of restoration projects, including site supervision and project management of listed Heritage monuments in the Nancy and Paris areas.
- Due to the continued growth of the business, we are looking for a Heritage consultant to join our team, working closely with the Director.
**About you**:
As a Heritage Consultant you will assist in the provision of technical advice, heritage assessments, historical research and drafting of reports for clients.
You will receive support and guidance from the Principal while being responsible for providing a “client ready” standard of work. Under direction, you’ll assist the team with cultural landscapes analysis, conservation management plans, building condition assessments, adaptive reuse advice, and provision of architectural documentation, heritage impact assessments and photographic archival recordings.
The role involves a dynamic mix of office-based work as well as fieldwork and site visits throughout Sydney. The Heritage Consultant role would suit someone with a background in architecture, history, urban design, town planning, and building conservation or similar who’s ready to move into the next phase of their career.
**Responsibilities**:
1. Heritage Assessment: Conducting thorough assessments of cultural heritage sites to determine their historical significance, architectural value, and cultural relevance.
2. Documentation: Creating detailed records and documentation of heritage sites, including historical research, architectural drawings, photographs, and other relevant data.
3. Conservation and Preservation: Developing strategies and plans for the conservation, restoration, and maintenance of heritage properties, ensuring they are preserved for future generations.
4. Compliance and Regulations: Ensuring compliance with local, regional, and national heritage laws and regulations when planning and implementing conservation projects.
5. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with stakeholders such as government agencies, historical societies, community groups, property owners, and developers to gain support for heritage preservation efforts.
6. Impact Assessment: Assessing the potential impacts of development projects on cultural heritage sites and providing recommendations for mitigation or preservation.
7. Cultural Heritage Management Plans: Developing comprehensive management plans for heritage sites to guide their sustainable use and conservation.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A degree in heritage conservation, cultural heritage management and architecture or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of cultural heritage principles, conservation techniques, and heritage-related regulations.
- Strong research and analytical skills for assessing historical significance and architectural value.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders and the public.
- Project management skills to plan and oversee heritage conservation projects.
- Knowledge of digital documentation and mapping tools used in heritage conservation is beneficial.
