We are seeking suitably experienced applicants for the Conjoint Dental Officer, Level 3 permanent position to join our large Oral Health team on the Central Coast of NSW.

The Con-joint Dental Officer Level 3 is expected to divide their time in an approximate ratio of 80:20 between the University of Newcastle and CCLHD commitments, respectively. The ratio is to be varied in accordance with University and CCLHD requirements to ensure the optimum utilization of the incumbent’s teaching and clinical skills.

Within the University of Newcastle School of Health Sciences, Discipline of Oral Health, the conjoint dental officer level 3 will deliver clinical oversight and academic guidance, mentorship and support to Bachelor of Oral Health under
- and post-graduate students as directed by the Head Of Discipline or their designate, and in accordance with the stipulations and requirements of the University of Newcastle guidelines and by-laws.

Within CCLHD Oral Health Service clinics, the position holder must demonstrate and exercise high levels of knowledge, experience and clinical competence across the scope of general dentistry in a complex clinical setting and with substantial independent professional judgment.
In addition, the incumbent will have responsibility for the educational support to clinicians in the management of patients, as well as for the provision of specialised assessment and treatment services for other clinicians on a referral basis.”

The position attracts a partial clinical load with an academic time allowance.

This position qualifies for the Dental Officer Rural Incentive Scheme Allowance (up to $20k p.a.) on top of Award Salary.

- Be registered and / or be able to be registered with the Dental Board of Australia as a dentist and with extensive clinical experience as a dentist in Australia or in a mutually recognised jurisdiction (UK, NZ and Éire).
- Proven highly advanced clinical skills and clinical reasoning abilities in managing most of the difficult clinical situations, complex medical histories, children and those with physical and mental disabilities and have a proven record for carrying out a broad range of advanced and complex dental procedures, as well as, ideally, be experienced in performing procedures under oral sedation, relative analgesia and general anaesthesia.
- Demonstrated experience in tertiary level teaching, mentoring, coaching, and supporting oral health students in under
- and post-graduate programs in both clinical and academic capacity, and demonstrated understanding of Oral Health Therapy scope of clinical practice.
- Demonstrated experience in undetaking and supervising clinical and/or epidemiological research projects, and a demonstrated ability for identifiying opportunities for improvements in models or care delivery as well as clinical practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisiplicary clinical team as well as possess experience in managing diverse range of concurrent activities.
- Demonstrated highly developed verbal and computer skills commensurate with University of Newcastle and CCLHD requirements and expectations for this role.
- Have a current Class C driver licence.
- Demonstrated understanding of how the District is Caring for the Coast and how this role would contribute to this goal.
