**Hours per week**:38 hours per week across facilities (28.5 hours per week at St Vincent’s Public Hospital Sydney, 9.5 hours per week at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney)

**Salary**:Dependent on skills and experience Split across two facilities, $156,825 p/a including superannuation

**About the role**:
A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Legal Counsel with expertise in construction and property law to work for the NSW arm of a leading not-for-profit Australian healthcare provider, St Vincent's Health Australia (SVHA). This is a unique opportunity to provide legal advice and services across a range of health facilities and research institutes, all focused on providing compassionate, high quality health care to the NSW community. SVHA has been providing health care in Australia for 160 years and is recognised as a clinical and education leader nationally and internationally.

The successful applicant will work as part of a friendly and supportive in-house legal unit, advising St Vincent's Health Network Sydney, comprising the following entities:

- St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney
- St Joseph’s Hospital
- Sacred Heart Health Service

The position holder will also advise St Vincent’s Correctional Health at Parklea Correctional Centre, as well as the Mater Hospital North Sydney, St Vincent’s Private Community Hospital Griffith and St Vincent’s Private Hospital.
The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

**Selection Criteria**
- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
- At least 5 years post admission experience in construction and/ or property law within a law firm or in house legal environment.
- Public sector experience will be considered a bonus
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, and familiarity with advising on construction and property contracts (eg, GC21 and MW21) with mínimal supervision
- Ability to work under pressure and tight timelines
- Ability to coordinate with all levels of management and to provide commercial solutions to problems
- Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple stake holders
