**About the Role**
The Research Fellow will work with SAFES researchers at the University of Melbourne on plant selection for urban plantings. This role involves designing and managing green infrastructure experiments, investigating plant survival, growth, and flowering, and analysing planting mixtures.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Significantly contribute towards the research effort of the team and to develop your research expertise with an increasing degree of autonomy.
- Contribute to teaching, training, scientific mentoring and supervision of students.
- Contribute to, or present research to the public to elevate public awareness of educational and scientific developments and promote critical enquiry and public debate within the community where appropriate.
- Under the guidance and support of Senior Academic staff conduct internationally competitive research, resulting in publications in high impact journals.

**Who We Are Looking For**
You will be innovative, independent, and a strong collaborator with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Additionally, you will have a background in urban planting, the ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team, and demonstrate excellent organisational skills to meet deadlines and complete projects effectively.

You will also have:

- Completion (or near completion) of a PhD in Green Infrastructure, Urban Greening or a related discipline.
- A demonstrated aptitude for research, with a sound publication record in relevant areas, commensurate with experience and opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with relevant professional and industry bodies and stakeholders to foster collaborative partnerships.
- Strong evidence of ability and desire to build an academic research career trajectory.
