Job Description Summary: This Senior Leadership position is responsible for second-line oversight of PayPal Australia Pty Ltd (“PPAU”). This role will report directly to the Head of International Compliance and also has a reporting line relationship with the CEO of PPAU. In addition, this leader will be a member of the senior global Regulatory and Customer Compliance Leadership team. This role requires a seasoned Risk Management and Compliance leader that is able to consistently demonstrate sound technical skills, strategic pragmatic judgment, and an ability to work in a dynamic business environment. Equally critical will be the ability of this leader to effectively collaborate with various lines of Business, Functional areas, and other key stakeholders both within Australia and globally. The ability to lead a team of professionals effectively and collaboratively in a manner that is consistent with PayPal’s vision, mission, and values will also be critical to success in this role. Further, this leader will need to demonstrate a deep ongoing understanding of PayPal’s business model, strategy, and organizational culture in the execution of the Risk Management and Compliance program. PPAU’s Risk and Compliance Management Program has centered around, driving a data-driven approach supplemented by expert judgment to adhere to all applicable Australian Risk and Compliance requirements in addition to PayPal’s global Risk and Compliance frameworks.

**Job Description**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Provide end-to-end oversight for the Risk & Compliance Program in Australia to meet all applicable local requirements, while also ensuring ongoing alignment with the Global Risk & Compliance Program.
- Effectively Manage relationships with all regulators (e.g., APRA, AUSTRAC, ASIC) in partnership with other stakeholders, including managing regulator requests, responding timely, and ensuring coordination with internal stakeholders.
- To serve as the lead point of contact for regulators and foster effective regulatory relationships, in addition to contributing to the development of and execution of PPAU’s regulatory engagement strategy.
- Serve as a key member of the PPAU leadership team
- Provide regular updates to PPAU’s Board of Directors and Risk Committee
- Own and drive PPAU’s Risk Appetite Statement and Strategy
- Act as a key participant in business strategy development.
- Demonstrate a dynamic understanding of internal and external market factors, and business climate, and make decisions and execute accordingly.
- Ensure regulatory requirements are understood and complied with, within emerging Australian growth initiatives and new products.
- Effectively and strategically partnering with the business to understand their needs and is focused on driving simplicity and efficiency.
- To serve as a credible business partner to executives and other key stakeholders.
- Provide objective, strategic, independent risk and compliance assessments and recommendations.
- Prepare and present regular risk and compliance updates to the Board and other authorized committees and/or working groups.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of professionals; provide risk and compliance management expertise in a clear, solution-oriented, pragmatic, and customer-focused manner.
- Partner with Legal and Government Relations to stay abreast of changes in laws and regulations and recommend appropriate changes to ensure that operations adapt to comply with these changes.
- Support maintenance of risks in line with risk taxonomy, framework, and assessment process.
- Support the first line in prioritization of risk mitigation.
- Escalate timely and actionable information to key stakeholders.
- Support management and operations with problem-solving on regulatory matters.
- Support risk assessments, identify improvements required in the Enterprise Risk and Compliance Management Program, and drive implementation.
- Partner with PayPal compliance training initiatives to ensure PPAU employees and management are adequately trained and adept in implementing laws and regulations.

**Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills**:

- Experience within financial institutions, money service/payments business, and/or banking risk management and compliance, including significant working knowledge of anti-money laundering, data protection, privacy, anti-corruption, and other applicable consumer protection regulations.
