**Why Your Role Matters**:
The Academic Lead, Nura Gili is a leadership role in Indigenous education at UNSW with primary responsibility for overseeing the Indigenous studies curriculum at UNSW, building the Indigenous research profile at UNSW and developing academic pathways for Indigenous students. This role has primary responsibility for overseeing research and teaching in Nura Gili and developing academic pathways for Indigenous students.

The Academic Lead is responsible for designing and delivering a curriculum such that students undertaking Indigenous studies will be better enabled in their future professions to interact more successfully and effectively with Indigenous peoples and obtain successful outcomes in service delivery in their chosen field.

**Who You Are**:

- A PhD qualification and a strong record of academic achievement.
- Demonstrated experience in higher education, including delivery of high-quality teaching, curriculum development and professional development.
- A record of outstanding leadership and achievements in learning, teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in a University or professional setting.
- Recognised research leader with outstanding research record as evidenced by research funding, publications in top tier journals and successful higher degree supervision.
- Ability to successfully undertake leading-edge research as evidenced by publication record and research track record.
- Demonstrated high level skills in managing and leading a teaching program area and providing expertise and academic leadership within a teaching team.
- A substantial record of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programs and courses, and supervising HDR and PhD students to completion.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other disciplines across the university.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
