**Selection Criteria**:
SC1 Demonstrated experience in teaching the Auslan language and Deaf culture to second-language learners.

SC2 Demonstrated high level curriculum planning in line with the Victorian Curriculum Languages - Auslan Curriculum.

SC3 Highly developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people.

SC4 Ability to provide leadership and professional learning that informs and influences the work of others involved in the engagement and wellbeing of children and young people with a disability.

SC5 High level written and verbal and signing communication skills.

**Role**:
7.6 hours a day - one day a week

Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction mínimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.

Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students in classes, accordingly to the Student Timetable.
- Support D/HH students with additional needs.
- Be familiar with the communication requirements of D/HH students as indivduals, adapting language and communication forms appropriately when interpreting/ supporting.
- Support students in relevant extra-curricular activities including lunchtime, after school and school camps.
- Collaborate with Teachers in reporting on effectiveness of supports provided for Individual students and on issues arising in the classroom in relation to these supports.
- Review lesson content if possible/necessary prior to a class.
- Participate in the day to day operation of the School and promote positive relationships between the school and the school community.
- Undertake additional duties, such as administrative tasks, as required by the Assistant Principal to assist with the smooth running of the school.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure effective work practices.
- Liaise with School Staff in regard to support requirements
- Other relevant duties as required.
