**About the role**:
At CES, we have ambitious targets to keep billions of drink containers out of landfill and transform them into resources that can be used again and again.

Our Engineers are a vital part of CES and we have a rare new opportunity for a technically expert Engineering Manager with great people leadership skills to help us in our mission.

You will lead development teams (Development Leads and Software Developers) to keep expanding our bespoke industry solution for our container recycling scheme clients.

Our projects are primarily in Java and JavaScript with an increasingly event driven architecture deployed on Kubernetes on hyperscale cloud providers; you will help shape the roadmap and technologies for the next growth phase of our organisation.

You are a people leader and technical expert; you bring high quality solutions to complex problems and excellent influencing skills to discussions & negotiations with product and development teams & other stakeholders.

You firmly believe in well architected principles and have quality as a key motivator; you understand Test/Behavior Driven Development at a deep level.

**Key deliverables include**:

- Lead, mentor and motivate your teams to achieve quality technical and business outcomes.
- Contribute to Technical and Architectural discussions, collaborating well and bringing positive energy to our culture.
- Design and consult with your peer Engineering Managers, Architecture and DevSecOps teams on technical deliveries.
- Drive great engineering principles and practices, security, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee Incident Management and after-hours support for your areas.

- Finding and securing great development talent

**Skills and Experiences**:
**About you**:
You have extensive experience building high quality software, including Test and Behaviour Driven Development, UI/UX, DevSecOps principles and CI/CD.

You have a good understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product roadmapping and delivery, and you bring:

- 3+ years’ experience managing software engineers - you have a coaching style and you can develop and inspire a team, as well as lead other leaders
- A solid background in Java, Event Driven Architectures (like Kafka) and API based microservices
- Strong experience working in containerised environments like Kubernetes
- Experience with Front end development frameworks (React, NextJS, Angular, NodeJS/NestJS)
- Strong skills in agile methodologies to give your teams the structure to deliver results
- An exceptional ability to engage and communicate with a range of stakeholders

**Bonus points if you also have**:

- Experience in headless CMS such as Strapi, Contentful
- Experience in B2C and B2B Identity such as Okta/Auth0, Oracle IDCS
