Energetic and Empathetic Nanny
**Job Description**:
**Our Family**:
- We have four beautiful children aged 5, 7, 11,and 12. Our youngest has down syndrome. Our children are active kids, with many sporting commitments and after school activities. We also have therapy requirements and appointments, and associated 'homework' play to complete each week. As a family we enjoy family dinners, movie nights on Fridays and homemade pizza We love spending time at home, whether that includes swimming in our pool, crafting, painting or make believe play, baking and trying new recipes or finding new shows to watch together. We also enjoy games and puzzles, bike rides and being outside in nature. We are working parents, with one semi-flexible, however often we have last minute work commitments due to running a small business with a limited staffing pool.
**Your Duties**:
- We are looking for a new nanny to help our family as our current nanny, who has been with us for 2 years this Christmas, is starting her new job teaching. We are searching for someone to help our family with household tasks like washing, tidying and cleaning, packing lunchboxes, odd jobs like collecting dry cleaning, ordering shopping/collecting shopping and packing away, preparing afternoon teas and simple meal items (pasta, bolognaise, taco mince, baking etc), school pick ups, driving to after school activities, and dinner, bath and sometimes bed routines. Most weeks will be roughly 2 days 1:30-6:30/7pm, and 3 days 2:30-6:30/7pm. We run a small local business, so we ideally also need someone who could also help with all day care when children are not attending school in school holidays and if children are injured or sick and parents need to both be at work. We are also looking for someone who may be able to help out with morning school preparation and drop offs on an as needed basis when work commitments clash with these requirements. It would be advantageous to have a reliable car that can fit 4 children, however not completely necessary. First aid would be required as our son has down syndrome and can't always communicate what's happening for him. I have put down a start date in January 2025, however, we would ideally like 3-4 cross over days with our current nanny before Christmas so you can see how she interacts with the children, the tasks she completes etc.
**Our Perfect Caregiver**:
- Our ideal care giver is someone who is patient, and happy to repeat themselves to support our youngest two with their routines and therapy goals. Someone who can take their time to breakdown tasks into step by step processes and can think ahead to assist with preparation of afternoon tea snacks, activities for younger ones if long car trips are necessary for sporting commitments. Someone who can appreciate the enormous task of running a household with four young children and is ok with the washing never being finished, the dishes always needed to be done, and the next round of food coming fast We are a family that enjoys spending time in our home together, which means the house is always lived in. We like to have fun and also get things in order to make our lives easier day by day. We are searching for someone who can balance helping out around the house with playing and emotionally connecting with our kids, someone who likes to engage in pretend play, likes to craft and bake, will swim in the pool etc. It would be advantageous to have any training in Key Word Sign, which we use with our youngest who has down syndrome, although not completely necessary as you will pick up signs working with us and the other children are well versed in interpreting what he is saying.
