**Youth Mentor - Pocketnote Mentoring Program**

**Position Overview: Academic NDIS Mentor**
As an Academic NDIS Mentor, you will be a crucial part of our mission to support individuals in navigating academic challenges and achieving success under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Your role will involve providing tailored guidance, fostering a positive learning experience for our participants.
**Responsibilities**:
**Personalised Support**:Tailor mentoring sessions to address the specific academic needs and goals of participants under the NDIS.
**Goal Setting and Progress Monitoring**:Collaborate with participants to set realistic goals aligned with their NDIS plans.
**Inclusive Learning Environment**:Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment
**Collaboration with Support Network**:Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other support networks to ensure a holistic approach to participants' academic development.
**Documentation and Reporting**:Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of mentoring activities, including participant progress and achievements.
**Requirements**:
- Completion of Year 12 or equivalent educational attainment.
- Ideally possess a Certificate III and IV in Disability Support or relevant qualifications showcasing proficiency in supporting individuals with disabilities.
- NDIS checks.
- A valid and up-to-date Working with Children Check (WWCC) is mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in mentoring or working with individuals, especially those with disabilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of empathy and patience.
- Commitment to inclusivity and understanding the unique needs of mentees.
- Adherence to organisational policies and procedures, including confidentiality agreements and codes of conduct.
- Genuine passion for mentoring and making a positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and training.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
- Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the evolving needs of participants and the organization.
- Effective communication with parents, guardians, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Cultural competence and an understanding of diversity.
- Prioritisation of the safety and well-being of participants, ensuring a secure and supportive environment.
- Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of mentorship activities and progress.
- Adherence to professional boundaries, recognising the importance of maintaining a mentor-mentee relationship within established guidelines.
**Job Types**: Casual, Freelance
Pay: $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 - 20 per week
Schedule:
- Rotating roster
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Kensington, VIC: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
**Education**:
- High School (Year 12) (required)
Licence/Certification:
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module (preferred)
- First Aid Certification (required)
