About La Trobe Student Union

La Trobe Student Union (LTSU) is the peak representative body for La Trobe University students at the Melbourne Bundoora campus. Our representation is led by and for students and incorporates the International Students Association and Mature Age Students Organisation.

**About the position**

The LTSU Food Bank Co-ordinator will ensure the smooth operation of the LTSU's food bank and support La Trobe university Bundoora campus students in need. This will include store opening and closing, supervising volunteers, ensuring store presentation and cleanliness is of the highest standard, monitoring and ordering items for the food bank.

**Organisational Relationships**

**Reports to**:Student Engagement Manager, La Trobe Student Union

**Key Internal Relationships**: LTSU Office Bearers. LTSU staff. Students. Volunteers.

**External Liaison**: La Trobe University Students. Food Bank suppliers. Food Bank partners. La Trobe university. La Trobe university retailers.

**Position responsibilities**

1. Food Bank co-ordination
- Maintain and organise inventory of food items.
- Coordinate food donations, including collection, sorting, and storage.
- Ensure food safety and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Monitor stock levels and reorder supplies when necessary.

2. Student Support
- Assist students in accessing the food bank and provide information about available resources.
- Respond to enquiries and provide guidance to individuals seeking support.

3. Volunteer Coordination
- Train and supervise volunteers who assist with food bank operations.
- Schedule and assign tasks to volunteers.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment for volunteers.

4. Collaborations and Partnerships
- Establish and maintain relationships with local food banks, community organisations, and suppliers.
- Seek opportunities for collaboration and partnerships to enhance the food assistance program.

5. Program Development and Improvement
- Identify and propose improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of the food bank.
- Monitor the impact of the program and identify areas for enhancement.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in food assistance programs.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

- Demonstrated experience in retail and client services
- Excellent time management and administration skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent written skills and ability to write in plain English
- Experience in customer facing role with high incoming enquiries and competing demands
- Ability to deal with enquiries and situations under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of courtesy and care
- Understanding of the university experience, student unions and working for a user-led organisation
- Well-developed and emotionally intelligent skills demonstrable in a professional environment
- a valid Working With Children's Check (WWCC)
- Full work rights in Australia

**Job Type**: Contract
Contract length: 3 months

**Salary**: From $26.00 per hour
