During this 18-month traineeship you will learn all aspects of racing administration/stewardship, through questioning, observing and participating in racing activities. As a Cadet Steward you will maintain and uphold the integrity of thoroughbred racing in Western Australia to enforce the industry’s standards as empowered by the Rules of Racing.

**_ This is a great opportunity to travel regional WA and after successfully completing the first 6 months of your training you will be rewarded with a salary increase._**

**A day on the job will include**:

- Learning all aspects and procedures in starting, clerk of scales, judging and betting supervision.
- Carry out administration duties as directed by the Chief Steward
- Respond to telephone inquiries.
- Prepare for race meetings including, checking race form, brands and markings,
- Attend courses as designated and attend other code meetings when requested

**About You**
- Experience in an administrative office role
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of thorougbred's would be an advantage
- Knowledge and understanding of the racing and wagering industry would be an advantage
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Sound computer literacy skills - Microsoft Office / Windows environment
- Current Senior First Aid certificate would be an advantage
- Current ‘C’ class drivers’ licence
- Completion of year 12
