A rare opportunity exists for an experienced industry professional to step up, or move across, and lead WSP’s Sydney Fire Engineering team in the role of **Associate Director or Director - Fire Engineering NSW.** This role suits a highly motivated market leader who understands the unique challenges of the Sydney property market who wishes to work on the best projects with the best clients at Australia's leading Tier 1 Consultancy. The role presents the opportunity to lead an established team of highly skilled engineers and contribute toward the success of our national fire engineering team. You will enjoy a varied position comprised of developing new business, fostering valued client relationships, managing project performance and promoting a culture of technical and professional excellence, all within our supportive team environment.

As a senior member of staff, your role will be one of leadership, expertise, support and mentorship. Your professional investment will drive success in our business and promote a strong working culture in the team.

We are a collaborative and inclusive National Fire Engineering team housed within our 900+ person Property and Buildings group. We strive to offer an exceptional client experience, promoting innovation and ‘future ready’ solutions.

**This role offers the opportunity to;**
- Contribute to the development of our business against strategic goals
- Communicate and manage relationships with internal & external stakeholders
- Lead the developed fire strategies through to the implementation of bespoke solutions
- Lead local, national and international projects of significance
- Utilise code consultancy, risk assessment and fire, smoke & egress modelling consultancy skills
- Train, mentor and supervise our emerging professionals throughout their development
- Act as a role model who people choose to follow based upon your behaviours within our diverse and inclusive workplace
- Maintain and manage strong client relationships and identifying key business development opportunities
- Work across our multidisciplinary specialist and building services teams
- Work within our University Partnership Programs which seek to address industry challenges and inform emerging technologies
- Develop technical papers and speak at industry events.

**What we'll love about you**
- Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science or equivalent industry experience
- Graduate Diploma or Masters in Fire Safety Engineering (desirable)
- Be a Registered Building Practitioner or industry equivalent, in the field of Fire Safety Engineering or be actively working to achieve registration.
- Experience across a range of sectors including medium-to-large scale projects and highly complex facilities such as airports, hospitals, major infrastructure and defence projects.
- Capable of supporting the technical requirements of code consultancy, risk assessments and fire, smoke & egress modelling.
- Capacity to support clients and liaise with local authorities/fire brigade, surveyors, multidisciplinary consultants and other stakeholders to efficiently deliver projects
- Capacity to train and mentor engineers in both the technical and industry-based forums
- Willingness to share technical knowledge and lessons learnt whilst fostering a culture of development and growth within your team.
