Invest Victoria

**Invest Victoria is responsible for**:

- attracting and leading Foreign Direct Investment opportunities
- leading investment opportunities of state significance
- improving the business investment environment through the development of new investment attraction measures (such as debt and equity), identifying areas for improvement, and leveraging additional economic development benefits from a range of government activities
- developing whole-of-government mechanisms (such as facilitation services) and associated frameworks; and
- managing and co-ordinating the State's investment pipeline.

Trade and Investment Portfolio
To support the promotion and growth of the State's trade and investment interests, the Victorian Government has a dedicated Administrative Office that combines Invest Victoria, Global Victoria and CarbonNet, working together across the Trade and Investment portfolio.
Comprising a Melbourne-based team and a global network of 23 international offices, the Trade and Investment agency focusses on creating jobs and prosperity, by developing opportunities for Victorian businesses to expand internationally and by attracting investment into Victoria.
The Innovation and Partnerships team within the Investment division of Invest Victoria undertakes targeted investment attraction activity and delivers campaigns to drive economic recovery, innovation, environmental and social outcomes. The team provides a coordinating role in bringing government, industry, and other key partners together to create an environment that will enable transformative investment in Victoria.
About the role
This is a 0.6 FTE VPS5.1, 12-month Fixed Term Contract due to parental leave.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide high level advice, analysis, and guidance to ministers and senior executives on the economic issues and trends relevant to Invest Victoria's key sectors and potential economic impact on Victoria.
- Support complex investment attraction projects and provide authoritative, strategic, and practical advice on issues, strategies and initiatives relating to projects to support investment, innovation, and economic development strategies.
- Foster strong working relationships and work collaboratively across the organisation, including the international VGTI network, Victorian Government departments, agencies, broader government, and universities to increase investments to the State.
- Provide high-level briefings, specialist advice and support to Ministers and senior management regarding complex and sensitive issues relevant to local economic development opportunities.

About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

- Extensive understanding of Victoria's value proposition as a location for international business investment and an appreciation of current issues impacting on industry investment decisions and economic development nationally and internationally.
- Ability to creatively and proactively target investments across the key sectors and an ability to undertake complex and sensitive negotiations and influence outcomes; including experience in business development, relationship/account management, and project management activities.
- Experience working and consulting across diverse stakeholder groups and collaboratively across government, industry and academia.
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to provide high quality and timely briefings, advice and support to Ministers and senior management.
- Comprehension of relevant Government policies, processes and programs and experience in using initiative to achieve key performance indicators.

Experience/Qualifications
- A relevant tertiary degree in a business, economics, or related discipline (required).
- Experience across one or more of our 5 key sectors (Advanced Manufacturing, Agri-food, Health and Life Sciences, New Energy and Digital Technologies) (desired).
