We have a great opportunity for someone looking for flexible part time work (3 days a week) for a Litigation Specialist to manage litigated statutory fund workers compensation claims including WPI, weekly payments of compensation and medical and related expenses disputes across our WA or SA portfolio - this role can be based in either our SA or WA office with flexible working.

**About The Role**:
Reporting to the National Manager - Litigated claims, you evaluate claim exposure and work closely with appointed external panel lawyer to develop appropriate litigation plans to achieve resolution options. Some smaller disputes can also be handled inhouse without external panel lawyer involvement. You will also.
- work on complex claim assessments and working closely with external panel lawyers on claim strategy and resolution options
- communicate with the Brand, witnesses, external panel solicitors and other service providers to obtain and determine all necessary claim information and maintain contact throughout the duration of the litigation
- evaluate, negotiate and organise settlements within designated authority
- manage, monitor and review the work of external panel lawyers
- work with the claims team when handling Statutory fund claims to ensure a cohesive approach
- work collaboratively with the common law Litigation Specialist to assist with common law strategy and consistent frameworks
- provide technical advice and guidance for other claims staff including the drafting and review of dispute and review notices
- Attend claims reviews external panel lawyers
- Liaise with the Brand on litigation status and strategy

**About you and your skills**:
We are looking for a professional with proven experience in litigated claims management environment and relevant legislative frameworks. You have a strong understanding of complex litigated and injury claim investigations and management and advanced knowledge of workers compensation legislation and emerging industry trends. You will also need:

- demonstrated background in managing, negotiation and settling complex, litigated liability claims and a strong understanding of key regulatory and statutory insurance obligations
- excellent written and verbal, problem solving, analytical skills and commercial judgement
- strong liaison, negotiation and interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
- Tertiary qualifications in law and admitted to practice as Australian Legal Practitioner in WA or SA
