**The Opportunity**

Veolia currently has a number of exciting opportunities to join our team as a Leading Hand for our newly awarded contract with the City of Gold Coast Resource Recovery. The position will assist the Supervisor with the coordination of work activities, providing day to day direction for a work team to ensure operations are undertaken in accordance with developed procedures and site management plans.

**What you’ll be responsible for**
- Developing and establishing a program of daily work tasks in line with operational plans and procedures.
- Coordinate heavy plant and labour resources to ensure daily work activities can be achieved.
- Provide daily direction to a work team to ensure works are conducted in accordance with established safe work practices.
- Undertake work task risk assessments and verification of competency for site plant operators
- Assist with the training and development of operational staff.
- Operation of heavy plant, equipment, vehicles and minor equipment associated with various work tasks as required.
- Monitor the condition of plant and equipment and ensure repairs and maintenance work are undertaken in accordance with Veolia guideline

**What you’ll need to be successful**
- Proven experience in a leading hand or team leader role in the waste, recycling, construction, civils works or manufacturing sectors.
- Visible commitment to safety and an Always Safe / ZERO Harm workplace culture
- Demonstrated experience (5 years +) and VOC evidence for a broad selection of heavy plant and equipment such as landfill compactors, bulldozers, articulated dump truck, excavators and front-end loader.
- Be a strong 'team player', with high level of work ethics and contribute to positive workplace culture
- White Card and valid drivers licence (HR desirable)
- Applicants also holding the following qualifications will be highly regarded: working at heights, EWP, forklift, first aid, Cert II in Waste Management or Civil Construction Plan Operations

Willingness to undergo a National Police Clearance and medical check relevant to the role.
